How long does LVP installation usually take?
Luxury vinyl plank is usually the fastest hard-surface option we install. A straightforward bedroom, office, or small living room can often be completed in one day, while kitchens, mudrooms, basements, and open first floors may take longer because of appliance cuts, transitions, and layout details. LVP still needs a flat, clean subfloor, so we do not skip prep just to move faster.
How long does carpet installation usually take?
Carpet is often a same-day project for bedrooms and family rooms, especially when the subfloor is in good shape. Stairs, hallways, closets, and whole upstairs areas add time because every turn and edge has to be fitted neatly. We remove old carpet and pad, check the tack strip, stretch the new carpet properly, trim it clean, and leave the space ready to use.
How long does engineered hardwood take?
Engineered hardwood usually needs a little more patience because layout, acclimation, cuts, and fastening method all matter. A single room may take a day or two, while a main level can run several days depending on square footage and details. When a homeowner wants the real-wood look, that extra care is what helps the floor stay tight and stable through South Jersey humidity.
What can add time before installation starts?
Subfloor prep is the big one. We may need to flatten low spots, repair soft or squeaky areas, scrape old adhesive, or check moisture in concrete before any plank or carpet pad goes in. That part can feel slow because it is not the pretty part of the job, but it is what prevents gaps, movement, clicking, and early wear later.
Can you stay home during the flooring project?
Usually, yes, as long as we can work safely and keep the area clear. We often install in sections so a family can still move through the house, but there may be short windows when a room, hallway, kitchen, or stairway is off limits. Pets do best in a quiet closed room or out of the house for the day because doors, tools, and crew traffic can be stressful.
