Can You Install Flooring Over Concrete or in a Basement?

Basements and concrete slabs used to limit your flooring options to tile or bare concrete. Not anymore. With the right product and proper prep, you can have warm, finished floors below grade.

LVP and engineered hardwood lead

Luxury vinyl plank and engineered hardwood are both built for over-concrete and below-grade installation. They tolerate the slight moisture and temperature shifts a basement sees — unlike solid hardwood, which isn't recommended below grade.

Prep is everything

Concrete has to be clean, flat, and dry. We check for moisture, level low spots, and use the correct underlayment so your new floor sits right and lasts. Skipping prep is the #1 reason basement floors fail.

Warmer, quieter basements

Add carpet to a basement rec room or bedroom and you get insulation and sound dampening on top of comfort. We'll recommend the right combination for how you plan to use the space — call (609) 377-4365 for a free assessment.
